MMM

I stumbled upon this site one day: http://oops-mmm.appspot.com/
"Who-ho-hoo, this will be a funny read", I thought as I was anticipating to find some bullshit about how you can invest money into this MMM foundation and magically double it up in just couple of months.

I believed, MMM was a huge financial pyramid scheme created by some Russian fraudster back in 90-ies and now he's back on his feet, trying his thing again.

It was a huge surprise to discover that things are a little bit different than advertised by media. First of all, MMM does not attempt to disguise and present itself as something different than it actually is - a financial pyramid. There is a clear description of what it is and how it works.

The second thing that struck me was the motivation behind all this scheme. It is not designed to make money. It is designed to make people aware of how much of a bullshit the money itself really is. It aims at accumulating huge amounts of it, thus taking control of the global "economy" and making, as they call it, Financial Apocalypse to occur sooner rather than later.

If you're familiar with the Zeitgeist films and movement, you know that there are pretty similar ideas there. The whole concept of money has got to go and get replaced by something different. My biggest unanswered question so far has been - replaced by what? Probably, some system, that somehow helps planning all the resource gathering, processing and distribution? Something, that ensures that your skills are effectively used where they are most needed and that in the end everybody gets everything they need for living?

MMM is currently building this social financial network, where people are connected and help each other out with money whenever they most need it. I know this is far fetched, but maybe, potentially, if they succeed, it could grow into something, where people could exchange real goods and services, too, once the money becomes obsolete?
